Popular Syrian surnames

This table show popular Syrian surnames. In Syria, surnames typically pass down through the father's line. Children take on their father's surname and it is not common for women to change their surname upon marriage. However, in some cases, a woman may choose to adopt her husband's surname as a sign of respect or to show unity within the family. Additionally, it is not uncommon for people to have multiple surnames, with their father's and grandfather's names being included in their full legal name.
