Jordanian first names
In Jordan, parents typically choose a first name based on family tradition and religious significance. They often select a name from the Arabic language and may choose a name that has a significant meaning or is associated with a prophet or religious figure. Additionally, parents may also consider the name's compatibility with the child's surname and the ease of pronunciation for non-Arabic speakers.

Popular Jordanian surnames
In Jordan, surnames are generally passed down through the patriarchal line, meaning that a person's surname is typically inherited from their father. However, some individuals may choose to adopt their mother's surname or use a combination of both parents' surnames. There are also instances where individuals may adopt a new surname for various reasons, such as marriage or a personal preference. Overall, the use of surnames in Jordan follows similar practices to other Middle Eastern countries.
