Our Colombian name database contains 7.757 Colombian surnames and 21.113 Colombian first names categorized by gender and frequency. South America is not very well organised and only have a few open data initiatives. The list of names from countries like Colombia have a reasonable quality but are limited. The Colombian names are validated using official governmental databases we received in other countries which contained Colombian names as well. To create the Colombian name database we used 355.142 validated Colombian social media profiles. We have a detailed explanation of our methodology and illustrate our approach with several examples.
